James, Geri, Rebecca (above) and Vicki

"I retired from the Suffolk County Police Department in January of 1992 and entered the ministry the same month with a small non-denominational church in Coram, New York. I went on from there to complete a Masters degree in Biblical Studies and served as a interim pastor at a Baptist church in Riverhead before accepting a pastorate here in Pennsylvania. I am affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America.

Geri stopped working at Southampton Hospital several years back to spend time raising our two daughters. She now spends her time involved with an AWANA program, which is an outreach to children ranging from pre-kindergarten to 6th grade, in which she teaches a class and shoulders some of the administrative duties.

Rebecca graduates in June of 1996 and plans to attend the Lancaster Bible College at the present time; unsure of what she wants to major in as of yet. She has taught Sunday School, sings in the church choir (she didn’t get the talent from either Geri or myself), plays piano and works with a group in the AWANA program as well. She had an initial interest in architectural drafting; perhaps that may still be in her plans.

Vicki is a non-stop dynamo of energy. She must be a "Dura-cell" kid. Full of joy and lots of fun, she enjoys AWANA, has begun to play soccer, and until recently began playing piano, though that seems to bore her.

The church is in a rural setting about 45 miles north of Harrisburg. In the past two years we have grown quite a bit and our youth groups (our emphasis here) have made a tremendous impact in the community. The area is much like Shelter Island, so having moved to the Island from Brooklyn in 1960; and having come here from western Suffolk County in 1994, I feel like I’ve come full circle. But the challenges are numerous and like everywhere else, people need help with their problems and we have the answer.

Looking forward to seeing the group again. Ten years already! One advantage of having a small graduating class."
